It Wasn't a "Civil War" At All

America's profound ignorance of our Civil War is prominently displayed these days. We've been lied to all our lives about what really happened. Even the name "Civil War" is misleading. Here's why.

Please take a few moments to read Steve Hayes' excellent post.

It was a war for the hegemony of northern capitalism.

How come this isn’t common knowledge in the US?

Because Yanks wrote the history books and entrenched the civilgate propaganda in American minds, politics, and culture. Students believe what they hear (Lincoln was a great president, because he freed the slaves from their lazy, mean, racist southern masters). Most people don’t suspect there’s any more to it than that, so they see no need to do any independent study. And they refuse to consider any other point of view, which is summarily dismissed as racist hate speech.

Lincoln was a racist. One only has to read his own words.

Even when a person does begin to do some reading, they tend to get discouraged because the truth is so horrendous and depressing. It’s much more pleasant to just hang on to a comfortable lie than face the truth.

And even if one can get past all that, trying to convince others is a huge challenge. How can one pierce 150 years worth of lies and indoctrination?
